Ethyl alcohol of agricultural origin: common organisation of the market CMO

The European Parliament adopted a resolution drafted by its rapporteur Maria Del Pilar AYUSO GONZALEZ (EPP-ED, Spain) amending the Commission's proposal. (Please refer to the document dated 28/05/02.) On the competition between the categories of alcohol, the Parliament pointed out that synthetic alcohol currently accounts for 50% of EU consumption and, except in the case of spirit drink where alcohol of agricultural origin is used exclusively, other industries can use alcohol of different origins indiscriminately.�
