OBJECTIVE: to consolidate Council Regulation (EEC) No 1866/86 laying down certain technical measures for the conservation of fishery resources in the waters of the Baltic Sea and laying down certain technical measures for the conservation of fisheries at Community level by reducing catches of small fish in the zones in question.
COMMUNITY MEASURE: Council Regulation (EC) No 88/98 laying down certain technical measures for the conservation of fishery resources in the waters of the Baltic Sea, the Belts and the Sound.
CONTENT: the new regulation replaces various regulations which have been consolidated and officially consolidates the technical measures governing fishing gear and how to use it. It also defines the restrictions on fisheries of certain species and in certain geographical zones and the minimum size of certain fish.
This regulation repeals and replaces Regulation (EEC) No 1866/86.
