Rice and seeds: common organisation of the markets (COM)

OBJECTIVE: to modify Regulation (EC) no. 3072/95 on the common organization of the market in rice and Regulation (EEC) no. 2358/71 on the common organization of the market in seeds. COMMUNITY MEASURE: Council Regulation (EC) no. 192/98. CONTENTS: this modification, which follows on from the overall agreement on the 1997/98 price proposals, seeks to include rice seeds in the CMO of rice so that they are eligible for the payments introduced when the sector was reformed in order to compensate for the reduction in the intervention price, and to modify the CMO of seeds in order to introduce a mechanism to stabilise production of seed for each member state.
