Structural business statistics: inclusion of insurance sector

OBJECTIVE: extension of the scope of Regulation (EC, Euratom) No 58/97 concerning structural
business statistics for undertakings in the insurance sector.
COMMUNITY MEASURE: Council Regulation (EC, Euratom) No 410/98
SUBSTANCE: Regulation (EC, Euratom) No 58/97 established a common framework for the
collection, compilation, transmission and evaluation of Community statistics on the structure,
activity, competitiveness and performance of businesses in the Community. A new annex extends
to the insurance sector the obligation to provide comparable, complete and reliable statistics.
