Areas under vines: statistical surveys (amend. regul. 357/79/EEC)

PURPOSE: amendment of legislation dealing with statistical surveys of areas under vines. COMMUNITY MEASURE: Council Regulation 2329/98/EC amending Regulation 357/79/EEC on statistical surveys of areas under vines. CONTENT: The amended Regulation provides for greater flexibility of the system of statistical surveys and allows Member States to link up this operation with the Community survey on the structure of agriculture holdings provided for by Council Regulation 571/88/EEC and to use, as a source, information obtained from the vineyard register. It also provides for an exemption for Portugal for the basic survey as regards information on wine varieties. ENTRY INTO FORCE: 31.10.1998. �
