EC staff regulation: remuneration in euros, tax, allowances (amend. Regul. 259/68, 260/68, 122/66, 300/76/EEC/ESCS)

OBJECTIVE: to propose reform of the Staff Regulations of European Community officials to establish their remuneration in euros from 1 January 1999. COMMUNITY MEASURE: Council Regulation (EC, ECSC, EURATOM) no. 2458/98 amending Regulation (EEC, EURATOM, ECSC) no. 259/68 laying down the Staff Regulations of Officials and the Conditions of Employment of Other Servants of the European Communities, and the other Regulations applicable to them with regard to the establishment of remuneration, pensions and other financial entitlements in euros. CONTENTS: the Regulation seeks to establish the remuneration, pensions and other financial entitlements of officials and other servants of the European Communities in euros from 1 January 1999 in the Member States which have adopted the single currency (these remunerations etc. are currently expressed in Belgian francs -BEF). The purchasing power of these financial entitlements will not be affected by the present decision. ENTRY INTO FORCE: 17 November 1998. The Regulation will be applicable from 1 January 1999.�
