Public health: extending certain action programmes

By adopting the report drafted by Mr Antonios TRAKATELLIS (EPP/ED, GR), the European Parliament has given the go-ahead for six programmes to be extended until 31 December 2002, thus ensuring that they will not expire before the Commission has presented its new overall public health action programme in the course of 2001. Parliament, Council and Commission have also managed to agree on the budgetary impact of prolonging the programmes, a second reading will not be necessary.�
