2001/0099(CNS)
The European Parliament, using its procedure without debate, adopted the report by its rapporteur Friedrich Wilhelm GRAEFE zu BARINGDORF (Greens/ EFA, D), with some amendments. The main ones are:
-a provisions that the maximum quantity of seed which is eligible for aid, and other essential features of the stabliser mechanism, in particular the manner and method of calculating the maximum quantity and the reduction in the event of exceeding the maximum guaranteed quantity will be determined by the Council after consultation with the Parliament.
-a provision that the reduction will be offset against the aid payable in the subsequent marketing year.
Parliament indicated that, to ensure better supply of each of the species, it may prove wothwhile to provide for differentiated support for different species in order to overcome the Community's supply deficit and safeguard a certain biodiversity in Europe.
