2001/0820(CNS)
PURPOSE : to integrate certain provisions of the two conventions relating to extradition between the Members States of the Union in the Schengen acquis.
CONTENT : the draft decision, based on the initiative of Sweden, aims to clarify the existing relationship between the provisions of the 1995 convention on simplified extradition procedure and the 1996 convention relating to extradition between the Member States of the European Union with the provisions of the Schengen Acquis.
In order to ensure a clear and unambigious legal situation it is necessary to clarify the relationship between the provisions of the above conventions.
