Agricultural prices 1999/2000 : aid for seeds (amend. regul. 2358/71/EEC)

1999/0035(CNS)
PURPOSE: Agricultural prices 1999/2000 - seeds COMMUNITY MEASURE: Council Regulation 1405/1999/EC. CONTENT: The main amendments introduced by the Council are the following: - as far as rice seeds are concerned, to differentiate between the japonica and indica types no longer on the basis of genetic criteria, but on the basis of morphological criteria taking into account the size of the seeds, as foreseen by the common organisation of the market for rice since the 1995 reform; - as far as hemp seeds are concerned, in the case where the aid is traditionally limited to monoecious varieties, to follow the trend in the regime to be applied to hemp by including the newly developed dioecious varieties in the category of eligible varieties and establishing the same maximum rate of THC (alkaloid). The current distinction between the three types of English rye grass will, for a transitional period, be maintained for the next two marketing years; from the 2002-2003 marketing year onwards, a single aid will be applicable to English rye grass seeds.
