EC/Switzerland agreement: participation in the MEDIA Plus and MEDIA Training Community programmes

PURPOSE : The Conclusion of an Agreement between the Community and the Swiss Confederation in the Audiovisual field.

PROPOSED ACT : Council Decision

CONTENT : The European Commission has finalized an Agreement between the Community and the Swiss Confederation in the Audiovisual field, which established the terms and conditions for the participation of the Swiss Confederation in the MEDIA Plus and MEDIA Training Community programmes. It also contains a Final Act. To cover the costs resulting from its participation in the MEDIA programme, Switzerland shall each year pay a contribution to the general budget of the European Communities in accordance with the terms and conditions set out in the proposed Decision.

FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: The financial contribution to be made by Switzerland to the budget of the European Union in order to participate in the "MEDIA Plus" and "MEDIA-Training" programmes, will be allocated proportionally to the respective programme budgets and is EUR 4.2 million for 2005 and EUR 4.2 million for 2006.
