EC/Armenia agreement: partnership and cooperation agreement, protocol after the 2004 enlargement
PURPOSE: to update the partnership and co-operation agreement (PCA) between the Republic of Armenia and the EU following the accession of ten new Member States.
LEGISLATIVE ACT: Council and Commission Decision 2005/252/EC, Euratom on the conclusion of the Protocol to the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between the European Union and Armenia to take account of enlargement.
CONTENT: in accordance with Article 6, 2 of the Act of Accession of the new Member States to the European Union, the accession of those Member States to the EU-Armenia PCA, which entered into force on 1 July 1999, should be approved by the conclusion of a protocol to this Agreement.
This is the aim of this Decision. The text of the protocol negotiated with Armenia is attached to this decision. In addition, the Protocol itself covers certain technical adjustments linked to institutional and legal developments within the EU and seeks to reflect the EU's new landscape following enlargement.
