EC/Jordan agreement: Euro-Mediterranean association agreement following the 2004 enlargement. Protocol
PURPOSE: The signature and conclusion of a Protocol between the EU and the Kingdom of Jordan taking account of EU expansion.
LEGISLATIVE ACT: Council Decision 2005/0736/EC on the conclusion of the Protocol to the Euro-Mediterranean Agreement establishing an association between the European Communities and their Member States, of the one part, and the Kingdom of Jordan, of the other part, to take account of the accession of ten new EU Member States.
CONTENT: This decision permits the association of the 10 new Member States to the Euro-Mediterranean Agreement between the European Communities and their Member States, of the one part, and the Kingdom of Jordan, of the other part. The protocol also adapts the protocol on agricultural products to the main Agreement and to include the new official languages of the Union in the text of the Agreement.
The text of the Protocol is attached to the Decision with the most important aspect being the inclusion of the new official languages.
ENTRY INTO FORCE: The text of the Protocol negotiated with Jordan provides for the provisional application of the Protocol before its entry into force.
The Protocol will enter into force once the formalities necessary for this to take place have been completed.
