Republic of Romania: application for accession to the European Union

PURPOSE: To accept an application from Bulgaria and Romania to apply to the EU.
PROPOSED ACT: Decision of the Council of the European Union on the admission of the Republic of Bulgaria and Romania to the EU.
CONTENT: The Council of the European Union has decided to accept the applications for admission by Bulgaria and Romania. The conditions of admission and the adjustments to the Treaties on which the EU is founded, entailed by such admission, will be the subject of an agreement between the Member States, the Republic of Bulgaria and Romania.
